the ingredients:
- 1 package super-firm tofu, drained and cut into triangles
- 1 tbsp avocado oil (or any high heat oil)
- Smoked sea salt and pepper, to taste
- 1/4 cup of prepared BBQ sauce or your favorite bottled brand
the method:
- Preheat a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add 1 tbsp of oil to the skillet and then carefully add the tofu. I recommend busting out that apron you never use… this oil WILL splatter.
- Spread tofu out into a single layer, season with salt, pepper, and fry for about 5 minutes on each side or until it turns golden and crispy. Be cautious when flipping the tofu triangles over – if you have tongs, use them.
- Remove from heat and stir in the BBQ sauce to coat the tofu. Serve piping hot!
Enjoy!
That looks delicious! Never thought of using BBQ sauce on tofu before. Definitely need to try it. 🙂
Where can you usually get avocado oil? I tend to get allergies towards olive oil and have been looking for an “olive oil alternative” that is not highly processed and can resists high heats!
I get my avocado oil from Sprouts, which is health food store. Do you have an Whole Foods stores around you?
Avocado oil is great because it resist temperatures up to 500 degrees 🙂
Defiantly, I am so excited!
This looks delicious , but it is so hard to find a healthy BBQ sauce. What sauce did you use?

Hi Kendall!
Thank you for your comment :). I, too, get concerned about all the nonsense that goes into bottled BBQ sauce. I like to make my own, here is a link to the recipe 🙂 https://fueledbyvegetables.com/2014/05/09/bbq-tempeh-veggie-bowl-gf/
Cool. Thank you so much! I’m definitely going to make some.
Awesome! Let me know if you like it!
